In the tumultuous dance of social interaction (at least for me!), I often find myself caught between my social self and my solitary self. As someone who deeply empathizes with the emotions and energies of others, I feel the weight of those connections—both beautiful and overwhelming. There are moments when the joy of being with others sweeps me up so completely that I lose sight of the pieces that make up my own identity. It leads me to ponder: what happens to our individual selves when we gather in groups?
